Born in Caracas, Venezuela to a family of farmers, I left my tropical home to study mathematics and computer science at Carnegie Mellon University. I spent the last few years of my undergrad doing research in fair division and algorithmic game theory. I now work at the mobile and social media lab at Columbia University as a PhD student under the direction of Prof. Augustin Chaintreau. Our research aims to level the online playing field between marketers and consumers by making the web more transparent and giving users information about how data companies use their private information.

Established in 2012, the Institute is a collaboration between Columbia and Stanford Universities. Our mission is simple: Sponsor thinking, building and speculating on how stories are discovered and told in a networked, digitized world.
